Exercise Rehabilitation
Whether it’s supporting our paediatric clients to get the most from their PE lessons at school, helping people to get stronger and fitter by going to their local gym or finding opportunities to integrate sporting activities into their rehabilitation programme, we recognise the importance of movement and exercise in the recovery process.
So, we provide personalised exercise and sports rehabilitation programmes or other intervention to helps adults and children accomplish their treatment goals. We also offer support to ensure safe and effective application. This may include training family, friends or support workers.
Mike, our resident Exercise Rehabilitation Therapist, takes the lead on how our clients use physical activity to restore functional capacity and improve their quality of life after injury or illness. He is a qualified Sports Scientist and so has an excellent understanding of how the human body reacts and adapts to exercise. He frequently applies the principles of sports science to support the rehabilitation of our clients as well as providing input to funding justifications and EHCP plans.
We deliver exercise rehabilitation in a variety of settings including our fully accessible clinic, gyms, swimming pools and other community settings. We offer many different activities to provide variety and choice – rebound, climbing, boxing, wheelchair basketball, adapted skiing or cycling to name but a few!
Many of our clients have used exercise as a gateway into competitive sport, which has helped maintain fitness and well-being long after the rehabilitation process. And so, we build relationships with relevant partners such as governing bodies and sports clubs that organise or advocate for accessible and para sports.
