Ross is a Chartered Physiotherapist with a strong background in both neurological rehabilitation and musculoskeletal care, bringing a versatile and patient-centred approach to therapy. He qualified with a BSc in Physiotherapy from the University of Salford in 2020, following earlier studies in sport and coaching, and has since developed his expertise across hospital, community, and private practice settings.
Bobath trained, he utilises advanced handling and facilitation techniques based on the Bobath Concept to optimise motor learning and functional outcomes in paediatric patients.
At Summerseat Physiotherapy Clinic, Ross treats patients with complex needs and varied pathologies, ranging from cerebral palsy and stroke to traumatic brain injury. Each patient receives SMART goals tailored to their presentation, with Ross adapting his approach to optimise care and outcomes. His varied skill set allows him to draw from both neurological and musculoskeletal practice, offering multiple methods of rehabilitation that are often fun, engaging, and highly individualised.
He has a particular interest in paediatric neurological rehabilitation, where he uses creative, game-based and hydrotherapy-led approaches to keep children engaged while promoting postural management and functional movement. Ross also regularly supports patients with severe scoliosis, employing targeted exercise and postural correction strategies to optimise spinal alignment and long-term outcomes. He is skilled in traumatic brain injury rehabilitation, where he combines precise communication, behavioural management strategies, and SMART goal-setting to help patients adapt to change and achieve meaningful progress.
Taking an active involvement in MDT meetings and joint working, Ross has recent experience working with trikes and specialized walking equipment. He has also completed specialised paediatric handling and manual handling training; using this to promote safe movement, positioning, and transfers for children with complex needs.
Ross began his career gaining valuable clinical experience across major trauma, stroke, orthopaedics, intensive care, musculoskeletal outpatients, and gastrointestinal wards within the NHS. He also brings experience in sports and community-based rehabilitation, having worked with the Halifax Panthers rugby team and as a martial arts and exercise coach. This combination of clinical and coaching experience has shaped his ability to deliver engaging, functional, and tailored rehabilitation programmes.
With his background as a martial artist and coach, Ross also brings unique expertise in movement control, balance, and motor learning to his clinical practice. He is committed to tailoring each intervention to the patient’s individual needs and goals, whether in the clinic, the pool, or at home.
