Acupuncture is used within neuro physiotherapy to support rehabilitation and improve functional outcomes. It can help manage symptoms that often limit engagement in therapy, such as pain, spasticity and muscle tension. It can also promote relaxation and improve overall wellbeing.

In neurological conditions, acupuncture is believed to influence both the central and peripheral nervous systems by stimulating specific points on the body. This stimulation can help modulate pain pathways, enhance local circulation, and influence neurochemical release (such as endorphins and serotonin), which may assist in reducing muscle overactivity and improving tone regulation.

By reducing pain and improving muscle balance, acupuncture can enable greater participation in physiotherapy exercises and functional training, supporting better movement control, posture, and mobility.

It is particularly useful in conditions such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injury, where pain, spasticity, or sensory changes can restrict progress.

Acupuncture is therefore a complementary tool within a holistic neuro-physiotherapy approach aimed at optimising comfort, participation, and rehabilitation outcomes.

Before any acupuncture treatment commences, we conduct an initial assessment that includes health screening, an explanation on how acupuncture is performed as well as discussion on the benefits and any possible side effects.
