Kat enjoys working with patients with complex problems. Her natural patience and empathy means she works well with people that require longer-term rehabilitation programmes. She also likes to use her problem solving skills to work on a 24-hour approach to rehab. Working with patients in their own homes helps her to ensure that her patients’ goals and treatment plans are relevant to the challenges they face while completing activities and tasks in their own environment.
Kat qualified as a Pilates teacher with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute in 2010. As our resident expert, she incorporates her Pilates skills into treatment plan to ensure our patients get to experience functional practice and exercise programmes whilst also benefiting from hands on therapy techniques.
In 2012 she completed a Basic Bobath Course, which further developed her assessment and treatment planning skills.
Kat also has over 15 years’ experience working in the NHS. Having progressed to a Band 7 Physiotherapist, she brings considerable specialist experience in both ward and community-based neuro-rehabilitation. Her broader experience includes junior rotations and locum work in trauma, elderly rehab, MSK, medicine and paediatrics.
Working extensively with MDTs, Kat has a good understanding of the role of other professions, when to refer, and what she can do to work in partnership with other professionals.
