Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy or aquatic therapy is a type of physiotherapy utilising the properties of water to enhance treatment outcomes. Programmes are designed specifically for adults and children to maximise function; physically, physiologically and psychologically.

The unique properties of the water provide an ideal environment for rehabilitation and exercise plus the added warmth of a hydrotherapy pool promotes relaxation of the body and mind:

  • Buoyancy relieves stress on joints and assists movement that may not be possible on land
  • Immersion in water helps to reduce swelling, pain and high muscle tone.
  • The resistance of the water can strengthen specific muscles, core stability and balance.

We offer a fully tailored hydrotherapy service, pulling from our therapists’ wide base of hydrotherapy knowledge and experience.

Delivering sessions across a number of specially designed pools across the North-West, we can offer a bespoke hydrotherapy programme.

We are able to deliver specialist training and bespoke consultancy in aquatic therapy and pool design.

Our clients tell us that the freedom of movement and freedom from equipment is one of the most enjoyable aspects of hydrotherapy. There is a place for therapy and recreation for everyone with a disability; we believe that for many people, hydrotherapy can be the key to accessing this.
